Civilian Internees in World War I
Step into a little-known chapter of First World War history. Explore the experiences of civilian internees in Britain, Germany, the Caribbean, and South Africa through photographs, stories, and a virtual reality experience that brings the past to life.
Also discover a small display on Montserrat during the First World War, including wartime fundraising stamps and local history.

Stroll through late 20th-century Plymouth with vibrant photographs from Gildo Spadoni and the MNT archives. Then, witness the haunting effects of volcanic eruptions in David Lea’s images of “The Buried City.”

Play our pan, pose with Festival characters, and remember Arrow and Air Studios!
Play a tune on our piano, bang on a steel pan, and shake to the beat with Zimbabwean hoshos (rattles) and Caribbean maracas. Explore the rich history of Montserratās Masquerades and snap a selfie with Festival characters like The Bull, Miss Goosie, and The Masquerader. Celebrate Arrow, the King of Soca, and discover AIR Studios’ history, from Dire Straits drum kit to Jimmy Buffett’s handprints.

Sailors, Potters, and Bead Makers
The National Museum of Montserrat invites visitors to explore Montserrat’s rich prehistory through archaeologists’ eyes. Learn about Indigenous Caribbean Cultures from 2880 BC to the 1660s AD, and discover the First Peoples’ impact at three Montserratian sites: Upper Blakes, Trants, and Valentine Ghaut.
