The pomp and fun fare over this last weekend will linger in most people’s memories for a long time. The just ended MNT Flower Show and Tea party were a resounding success with over two hundred entries to this year’s show surpassing last year’s participation figures. Donna Henry was the Champion exhibitor, walking away with a free trip, to Martinique with all expenses paid for by the Montserrat Tourist Board, who were among some of the sponsors for this year. Other main winners were Daphne Cassell and Reverend Joan Delsol Meade taking the second and third places respectively.
The Tea party took center stage on Saturday December 6, organized by Jean White with assistance from Nancy Reynolds and other well wishers, attracted close to a hundred people and those present also took part in the Hat Competition which is fast becoming a popular feature since its introduction last year. Winners were picked up in the Most Creative Hat category which was won by Agnes Lumpiere, Elaine Marg and Vereen Woolcock, the Most Fascinating Hat prizes were taken by Liz Corso and Collette Bates while the Most Unique Hat prizes went to Joanne, Vercil Edwards and Amy. The patron of the Flower Show and Tea Party, Mrs Sujue Davis scooped the Most Beautiful Hat’s main prize and Althea Shutzer and Pam Holley took second places.
Guests were served with good food, music and masquerades. Mrs Sujue Davis sponsored most of the prizes for the Hat Competition and Raffle.
Sunday, December 7, was the Closing and Prize Giving Ceremonies and most exhibitors turned up to receive their prize money after working so hard to present their beautiful plants this year!
